| Tryouts
DHS Cheer Information Nights April 21 & 22, 7 p.m.
- Each candidate and a parent or guardian must attend at least one DHS Cheer Information Night. Meet in Room O7 at DHS.
Tryout Clinic
May 3-6, 4–6 p.m.
- The clinic runs in the DHS Dance Room. Attendees will be learning three cheers, one performance cheer and a dance routine.
Tryout
May 7, 4 p.m.
- Participants will be trying out in front of a panel of 3-5 judges who are not associated with the school and do not know the cheer candidates. Tryouts are closed to non-participants. Results from the tryouts will be posted on the Dance Room door by 10 p.m. on the day of the tryouts.
The judges will be looking for the following:
- • Great tryout throughout the clinic and tryout day
- • Sharp motions throughout the tryout process
- • Strong, loud voices
- • Ability to perform the dance and cheers well
- • Good appearance
- • Confidence
- • Good jumps
- • Tumbling
- What to Wear
Candidates are to be dressed in appropriate attire for physical activity. This includes shorts, socks, shoes, hair pulled back and no jewelry. Please, no bare torsos or cheer attire from the previous season.
Orientation Meeting
May 19, 7 p.m.
- An orientation meeting at DHS in Room O7 for parents will be held to discuss the upcoming cheer season. All paperwork must be turned in, along with a $350 deposit for camp.
